I deeply regret that I have to trouble His Majesty's Colonial Office in these times with a commercial dispute such as this; but you will see, I am sure, that I have no alternative, bearing in mind your letter to my Company of the 4th January last, in which you asked us to come to terms with Messrs. Weiss & Co. as quickly as possible as to their appointment as our Company's agents, and that we have to show cause why all our endeavors in this direction have failed because of Messrs. L. Reiss Bros. & Co.'s extraordinary attitude.

It is perhaps hardly necessary to add that the proposals as tabled by the Hongkong Bank cannot possibly offer any basis for a settlement, not only because no terms whatever as to our share of commission and profit have been stated, but because my Company will never consent to have its hands tied in this way and must insist that this statement as to refusing it part and cable facilities in Hongkong be withdrawn.

This is also what the Texas Company has instructed me to ask of you, as I added to my cable.

I am, Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

Managing Director, Sanders, Rehders & Co. Ltd.,

London, E.C.

I deeply regret that I have to trouble His Majesty's Oolonial vifice in these times with a comercial dispute such as this; but you will see, I sat sure, that I have no alterative, bearing in mind your letter to my Company of the 4th January last, in which you asked us to gome to terms with Resare, Neiss & Jo, as quickly as possible as to their appointment as sy Company's agenta, and that have to show sause why all

our endeavors in this direction have failed because of Kenare, L. Reias

Bros. & Co.'s extraordinary attitude.

It is perhaps hardly necessary to add that the proposals as gabled by the Hongkong Bank cannot possibly offer any basis for a settle➡ ment, not only because no terms whatever as to our share of commission and profit have been stated, but because my Company will never con sent to have its hands forged in this way and must insist that this statement as

to refusing it part and cable facilities in Hongkong be withdrawn.

This is also what the Texas Company has instructed me to aak of

you, as I added to my cable.
